Medkheneh Diffuser by Aljoud Lootah

Craftmanship tradition combined with modern design.

Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah, in collaboration with the Moser glassworks, presents the "medkheneh" interior perfume diffuser. Lootah studied at Dubai Women’s College and founded her design studio in 2005. She often works with geometric shapes and uses pieces to dominate those inspired by origami.

Modern interpretations of Islamic heritage are recurring themes for Lootah. Lootah experiments with materials such as stone, camel skin and in this case crystal.

The perfume diffuser, which is inspired by the traditional "medheneh", is hand cut and made of lead-free crystal. It contains cuttings of various depths and intensities to represent intertwined strips of woven palm leaves. Each piece of diffuser has been shaped, polished and engraved by master glassmakers to combine traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

The inner part of the diffuser reveals the radiant color of aurora in conjunction with pure crystal. The second diffuser, on the other hand, combines the deep color of amethyst with light beryl. The two layers of paint in the diffuser reflect the traditional concept of "medheneh" and covering clothes.
