Moser crystal in one of the world’s most renowned shop window

During all of April, Moser glass has adorned a shop window at Harrods in London, one of the most famous department stores in the world. The vases and bowls called Pear, Caorle, Montagne, Stones, and Pineapple captivate with the Moser colours, masterfully handcrafted artwork, and modern design.

The crystal glass from Moser has been sold here via our business partner – the company Carrs Silver – since the autumn of last year, which we’ve considered to be a great honour. Aside from the mentioned vases and bowls, the drinkware collections Paula, Pope, Bar, and Sonnet are also on offer here.

Symbol of luxury

The Harrods department store, an iconic building in the British capital, is a symbol of luxury and Merry England. Since 1884, the terracotta palace stood on Brompton Road, nearby Hyde Park, and provided goods from over 500 prestigious international brands, including furniture, clothes, textiles, perfumes, jewellery, watches, glass, porcelain, etc. You’ll also find an array of splendid restaurants, cafes, and confectionaries here as well as flower shops and bookstores. In years past, you could even buy pets and exotic animals here, including elephants.

A fairy-tale story

The famous department store’s story is reminiscent of a fairy tale. Its founder, Charles Henry Harrods, began in 1834 as a young tea salesman. In 1851, the Great Exposition in London brought both crowds of people and new capital to Charles for more enterprises. His decision to move shop to Knightsbridge proved far-sighted, given this neighbourhood started to transform into a grand and elegant locale in the later 19th century as increasingly rich residents chose to purchase homes here. In two generations, the building became one of the most interesting department stores anywhere in the world. When it was struck by a destructive fire right before Christmas in 1883, it quite literally rose from the ashes. The founder’s son had a new and much more spectacular palace built in the same spot. Today, it’s one of the largest and most distinguished shopping centres, frequented by both royal families and worldwide celebrities. It’s also the destination of nearly every tourist visiting London. And they know this well at Harrods, which is why they have an entire souvenir department alongside the luxury items where, for example, you can buy the famous teddy bear. In 1921, writer A. A. Milne bought one for his son, Christopher Robin. Back then, he couldn’t have guessed that only a few years later, one of the most well-known children’s books of all time would come from their stories: Winnie-the-Pooh.

Moser In noble residencies and on yachts

In England, the Moser glassworks has a good ring to it. The former monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, owned the plentiful drinkware collection Splendid, while the current sovereign, Queen Camilla, keeps the glasses and carafes from the Art-Nouveau-style Paula Collection.

The historic sets of crystal glass and contemporary collections adorn not only British noble residencies but everything from countryside chateaus to city palaces, villas, apartments, and luxurious yachts.
