Moser Glassworks Shines at Designblok

The Moser manufactory came away from one of the biggest design and fashion events in Europe with not one but two awards. Its surrealist installation called “UP” impressed both the public and the expert jury at Prague's Designblok.

The presentation of the historical heritage and new creations by Moser's art director Jan Plecháč was awarded the Best Installation by Producer by the jury. It also captivated the visiting public, whose over two thousand votes secured Moser a win in the Public Award category.

“I'm overjoyed by the award, and it's great satisfaction for all of Moser. Many thanks go to all those who took part and were unafraid to realise such a bold installation,” says its author and the art director of Moser, Jan Plecháč.

A Touch of Freshness and heritage

The UP installation poetically captured the desire of a traveller to explore undiscovered horizons. On a levitating block carried by balloons, Moser presented all the new creations by Jan Plecháč in contrast with history. The goal was to showcase the unique combination of over-a-century-old artwork with contemporary, airy design.

Designblok also marked the premiere of the Soul of the Forest collection, for which the art director drew inspiration from the diversity of natural structures and the harmony of the forest. The unique structures encouraged touching, which appealed to many visitors.

Dreamy Moser

The levitating block, evoking the impression of a floating cloud, was a reference to the origins of the Karlsbad glassworks. It embodied the local magic rock and the demanding, raw work of glassmakers. The installation pulled the viewer into a magical world where the dream-like and the real blend into a unique harmony.

“I enjoy the surreal and I bring that into the things I create. I think we should all dream more,” adds Jan Plecháč.

The Moser manufactory has been cultivating its traditional production methods for over 160 years. The awards are yet another motivation for the brand to continue discovering unknown horizons.
