Second glass furnace was solemnly started

On Monday, August 2, we ceremoniously launched the second glass furnace. It had to be shut down due to an unfavorable pandemic situation. The ignition of the glass furnace is an important symbol not only for the glassworks, but also for the entire Karlovy Vary region. For this reason, representatives of the Karlovy Vary region and the city of Karlovy Vary took part in the festivities. The glass furnace was blessed on the spot by the priest Romuald Štěpán Rob, the first product from this renovated glass furnace was blown out by Vlastimil Habart, one of the most experienced Moser master glassmakers. "Today's start of the furnace is an important moment for the Moser glassworks. It is proof of the return to normal operation after a very demanding period of pandemic restrictions and allows us to satisfy the growing demand of customers from the Czech Republic and abroad, "says Pavel Mencl, CEO of Moser.

The plant used forced shutdown to maintain and repair the furnace. It is newly fitted with pans measuring 65x90 cm. The highest temperature in the furnace during melting is 1480 ° C. The temperature is then reduced to about 1340 ° C at seven o'clock in the morning. Since then, smaller products, such as glasses and tumblers, have been produced. Production continues until 15 hours, when the temperature drops to 1180 ° C. As the temperature decreases, the viscosity of the glass increases. At lower temperatures, glass no longer "flows" so much, and glassmakers can start producing larger works.
