Moser Will Soar on Designblok, Its Installation Called “Up” Will Present a New Collection: Soul of the Forest

Prague, 18 September – The Up installation by Moser glassworks poetically captures a traveller‘s desire to explore unknown horizons. For the first time ever, the glassworks presents new creations from its art director Jan Plecháč in one place, contrasted with historical collections. The Up exposition is a unique combination of over a century-old craftwork and modern design. It includes a new autumn collection called Soul of the Forest, for which Designblok will be the première.

Up presents Moser‘s new energy and freshness in combination with its heritage. “This will be the first presentation of our comprehensive portfolio of new products. The installation unveils Moser‘s DNA. Perfect historical collections are harmonically complemented by contemporary, airy design,” says Moser‘s art director Jan Plecháč.

The Up Installation is a Testament to the Demanding Glassmaker‘s Craft

A heavy levitating block floating on balloons carries the artworks on display and references both the demanding, hard work of glassmakers, and the Karlovy Vary Region, where Moser resides. It embodies the local magical rock, which floats across the landscape carried by the wind. As a pilgrim it journeys through time in the dramatic footsteps of Jules Verne and his determination, and in the deepest visions of a person dreaming of discovering new horizons. “I love dreaminess and the surreal, and I express that in the things I create. I think we should all dream more,” Jan Plecháč adds.

THE PREMIÈRE OF SOUL OF THE FOREST

The installation primarily presents the new autumn collection, Soul of the Forest. In its creation, the author Jan Plecháč worked with well-known archetypal shapes and with the diversity of natural structures. The Fungi vase features a delicate cut of fungal sporangium and has a soft, light, peach colour. Conea builds on the geometry and colour of a Korean fir. The Microcosmos vase is a union of traditional art and modern design with a contemporary illustration by Michal Bačák; the engraved image is a microscopic view of the bowels of the forest. Pinea is inspired by the structure and dark green colour of pine. The Bark collection is built on a classical drinking set called 1913, but its precise forms are replaced by the irregularity of natural structures evoking tree bark.

Soul of the Forest opens up new ways to perceive one‘s surroundings, form a new relationship with them through the senses and embrace the feelings evoked by the combinations of colours, structures and harmony found in nature. “I strive to ensure that everything that comes out of our glassworks carries emotion. The Soul of the Forest collection evokes pleasant feelings and awakens a desire to touch,” Jan Plecháč elaborates. The Up installation by Moser glassworks will be on display in the Superstudio, exhibition area P17, in the Trade
Fair Palace (Dukelských hrdinů 47, Prague 7). The display will be open on 4 through 8 October 2023, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
