Stars of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival Viggo Mortensen and Geoffrey Rush Visit Moser
2 July 2024, Karlovy Vary – During the 58th International Film Festival, American actor Viggo Mortensen visited the sales gallery of Moser at the Grandhotel Pupp. His attention was captured by the Pear vase, which he was then given as a gift. The hand-made crystal captivated the actor so much that he decided to also buy the Purity and Eternity vases alongside it. These are a part of Moser’s historical heritage, having been in production for over a century. So, he will not only be reminded of the time he spent in Karlovy Vary by the Festival President’s Award, the Crystal Globe, which is also traditionally made by Moser glassworks.
Australian Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush visited the Moser factory to see with his own eyes how the famous Karlovy Vary crystal is made. Together with his wife Jane, he toured the entire production facility, including the glassworks and the engraving workshop. Jane even tried her hand at taking molten glass from the furnace and blowing her own product with the help of Moser’s glassblowers. Geoffrey Rush was given an engraved whiskey glass as a souvenir. Both were enthused by the visit. This was not the first time that Geoffrey Rush had visited Karlovy Vary; he was here in 2022 when he received the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema. This year he was there as a member of the jury for the Crystal Globe Competition.
Over the years, many foreign and Czech film stars have visited the Moser sales gallery and glassworks during the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, including Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida, Ornella Muti, Gérard Depardieu, Whoopi Goldberg, Emília Vášáryová, Dagmar Havlová, Jiřina Bohdalová, Bolek Polívka, and Jaromír Hanzlík.
