How charming it is to have one’s head among the clouds
Born in 1949, Petr Sís has lived in America for decades. He directed a number of animated films, engaged in film posters and wall paints. Sís is the one who created the mosaic at the New York subway or the tapestry at Prague and Dublin airport. Although, he is known the most for his authorship for children. For illustrations, which embellish books for the youngest ones, Sís was awarded the MacArthur "Genius Grant" as the first children's book illustrator ever be honored. He also recieved the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
