Cubism

Each artifact designed by Rony Plesl is an original

Products of the collection

A famous designer and a unique design language gave birth to this exquisite set of Czech lead-free crystal glasses. With the Cubism collection, Rony Plesl has maintained the distinction with which previous Czech artists took this specific artform far beyond the boundaries of painting or sculpture, at the same time paying homage to the skills and craftsmanship of the Moser glassworkers. Every piece of this collection is a unique original: hand-cut with lines positioned so that the light shining through creates another dimension and entices you to keep discovering.

Glass: A new dimension of cubism

The Cubism designer collection bears the name of a famous art movement in which artists of the Czech Republic were counted among the creme de la creme, and boasts the name of the famous artist who created it. Rony Plesl, a renowned designer, references the Moser cut glass of the 1930s, artfully working with a variety of angled surfaces.

The irregular lines of the Cubism collection use the masterful hand-cutting to advantage: the characteristic angular surfaces don’t hold to a rigid symmetry, so each piece is a unique original. The light that comes through the crystal glass changes the space with each new angle and gives it a fresh dimension.

    Rony Plesl

Rony Plesl – the Designer of the Year 2011 and currently one of the most well-known Czech designers – pays tribute to the glassworking tradition embodied by the Moser brand with his Cubism collection. His approach to both drinkware and decorative cut glass returns to the shapes typical of the 1930s, while the cut celebrates the timeless mastery of Carlsbad glassmakers. Rony Plesl graduated from Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague (UMPRUM), where he returned after years abroad to lead the Studio of Glass.
