Honoring the past, celebrating the future

The vase made of underlaid crystal with a tri-coloured core (aurora, amethyst, rose), something completely unique for Moser. The oranges, purples, and pinks blend together differently in every vase. The colours are airy and dancy, as if ERA’s only wearing them as a light bodice. Blowing the tri-coloured core is exceedingly challenging. It requires flawless mastery of the craft, skill, and many years’ experience.
ERA is an exclusive, limited edition of only 77 pieces. Each bears its own number and is signed by its creators on the bottom – the glassmaking master and Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Sir Zdeněk Drobný, and winner of the Czech Grand Design Awards 2023, Jan Plecháč.
- Size 33,0 cm

Design and production
A symbiosis of mastery
ERA was born from the unique union of masters from Moser: designers, glassmakers, and cutters. Moser’s Art Director, Jan Plecháč, designed it to mark the celebration of glassmaking master Sir Zdeněk Drobný becoming a Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. One of the variations of the ERA vase works with a tri-coloured core, which is a complete extraordinaire for Moser. Blowing the multi-coloured cores requires perfect mastery of the craft and years of practice, given that each colour is different; some harder, some softer. “When it’s soft, you have to take great care not to blow through it because then it’d be too pale at the front. It’s hard to estimate – it isn’t until the vase is cut down that you learn if you were successful or not,” explains glassmaking master Zdeněk Drobný. Cutting the vase is practically a work of sculpting art, behind which stands a harmonious team of the best Moser cutters – edge shapers and wheel cutters. “We had to work very carefully and with great focus because it would be easy to crack the vase. Plus, ERA is quite heavy, and we have to hold it while cutting,” remarks Miroslav Bašus, one of the cutters.
