Belvedere bowl
A unique showcase of Moser craftsmanship
This sumptuous cut and engraved bowl complements the Baroque drinking glass collection Maria Theresa. Like that majestic collection, the Belvedere bowl is an excellent illustration of the abilities of Moser’s engravers. As well as having a wealth of engraving, it is outstanding in the precise lines of its cutting and its richly-modeled foot with subtle facets. The Belvedere bowl is decorated with a Baroque pattern featuring cherubs, created by Konstantin Hable Jr. to mark the 100th anniversary of the glassworks in 1957.
The Belvedere bowl owes its name to the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663–1736), the famous military leader and art lover. His Baroque palace in Vienna now houses Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present day. The Belvedere’s grounds represent the height of Baroque garden architecture.
