We’re celebrating a huge success. We won the Grand Prix at Designblok!

Over the past year, Moser and its Art Director Jan Plecháč have collected one award after another. The latest is the Grand Prix award for an exceptional achievement, the highest possible award granted by the international jury at Designblok.

This year’s Moser installation, dubbed Born of Sand, paid tribute to the fundamental ingredients in glass: sand, transformed into a crystal wonder by masters’ hands, a work of creativity and playfulness. It featured pieces designed by Jan Plecháč embodying the new era of Moser, something also reflected in the innovative colour work.

This victory lap, however, started back at last year’s Designblok, when the glassworks received the award for the Best Installation by a Producer as well as the Public Choice Award. Another triumphant success was winning the 2023 Czech Grand Design Award, where Jan Plecháč was named both Designer of the Year and the overall event winner, while the Moser glassworks became Producer of the Year.

But there’s still more. Jan Plecháč successfully introduced his first piece for the Moser glassworks, the underlaid, aquamarine Abyss vase, at the gallery of renowned Italian collector and curator, Rossana Orlandi, in Milan. This same vase also caught the eye of the most prestigious design magazine, Wallpaper, which chose to feature it on the front page.

A whirlwind of recognition for Moser’s new vision

Moser’s Art Director also won the hearts of the jury at EDIDA 2024. They granted him the main award Designer of the Year for the Cosmos exhibit at Designblok and the Soul of the Forest display, as well as the Abyss vase, which also won in the Interior Accessory of the Year category. He then won at Pulse Awards 2024 in the Product Design category for his elegant Harmonic vase. The Pulse Awards are granted for outstanding results in architecture, interior and product design in Central Europe.

And we’d be remiss not to mention one last monumental success at the Moser glassworks. This year, master glassmaker Zdeněk Drobný was made a Knight of France’s prestigious Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. To celebrate this recognition, Jan Plecháč designed the mesmeric and incredibly-challenging-to-create Era vase, which was festively displayed at the French embassy during the knighting ceremony. The Era vase was made in a limited 77 editions and is already nearly sold out. We’re overjoyed with all these awards, they fill us with pride and act as wonderful feedback. Moser’s vision and the new, dynamic focus brought two years ago to the glassworks by Jan Plecháč are affirmed by the positive response both from expert juries and the public. This recognition further highlights his ability to unite his innovative approach with the admirable tradition started by the glassworks’ founder, Ludwig Moser, in 1857.
